The importance of certified products
Products distributed and sold in Europe must be marked with a CE mark, but what does that actually mean?
CE is a letter of conformity. That the product is in accordance to European safety-, health- and environmental regulations. To most products it is the responsibility of the producer that the regulations are upheld. In principle it also means that the producer is liable for any damages caused by the product when the end user has correctly followed the user instructions.
Also it is technically only a certificate for customs officials and other authorities for controlling and upholding European regulations. The CE-mark does not require that the products have been tested by an independent party. Many times it has mistakingly been used as a reassurance of quality and performance by consumers and been compared to independent certifying companies, e.g. Tüv, VDE and Nemko.
We test all of our products at Nemko in Norway (N-mark). By doing so we certify products for all of Europe with one of the highest regarded independent certifying companies in the world. The N-mark does not complement the CE-mark, but is an assurance of product quality, performance and safety.
